When we got our first dog, Davy the Labradoodle, we became less and less interested in holidaying in places where we had to leave Davy behind. We thought travelling around Victoria to the many and varied pet-friendly accommodations would give us plenty of options. However, this proved not to be the case. We enquired at one place after another to find that “pet friendly” is not always pet friendly. Calls to leave our dog to sleep in the car, or to lock him in the laundry, or to prevent him from entering carpeted areas eventually became so frustrating that we decided that we would create our own version of “pet friendly”.
And here it is. Bed and Bark, Warburton. We have fully renovated our holiday house with guests and their dogs at the forefront of our minds. There is no restriction on the size or weight of our four-legged guests. Although there is a fee of $20 per dog per stay to cover the costs of additional cleaning to ensure the comfort of future guests. We provide bowls, poo bags, a bed and even a gift of treats to welcome our doggy guests.
But our two-legged guests are not forgotten. Our house was styled by the wonderful interior designer, Tricia Mancini (PMG Designs). What was once a tired ’80s house is now beautifully modern, welcoming and restful. Bed and Bark is designed to be your home away from home. There are decorative elements everywhere, from limited edition prints and original art on the walls to cabinets housing books and games. We are proud to welcome guests to Bed and Bark knowing that we have done all that we can to provide a wonderful holiday destination for the whole family.

Looking for a holiday destination became difficult once Davy the Labradoodle joined the family. We wanted somewhere away from the city, but not too far away, where our whole family could stay. The answer, was to create our own dream holiday getaway. We chose Warburton in the Yarra Valley, for its proximity to Melbourne and the valley’s wineries, forests, the snow and the Yarra River…and Bed and Bark was born
